Alina Casner, Managing Director, Associate General Counsel, Head of Legal for Markets, BNY Mellon

Alina Casner is Managing Director, Associate General Counsel and the Head of Legal for Markets at The Bank of New York Mellon, which includes the Derivatives & FX, Securities Finance, Collateral Management and Liquidity & Segregation businesses, as well as the broker-dealer affiliate, BNY Mellon Capital Markets, LLC.  Prior to joining BNY Mellon, she practiced law in the Derivatives and Securities Finance Group at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, and prior to that, at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.  She serves as Co-Chair of the Risk Management Association’s Legal, Tax and Regulatory Committee on Securities Lending, and is a member SIFMA’s Securities Lending Subcommittee. She is also an active participant in several ISDA working groups, and she is a member of the New York City Bar Association.  She serves on the Leadership Advisory Committee of the National Women’s Law Center, as well as the Board of Directors of Goddard Riverside, a non-for-profit organization. She leads the 30% Club’s US cross-company mentoring program for BNY Mellon.

 

Alina has a B.A. from Swarthmore College, where she double-majored in Economics and Political Science, during which time she also completed the one-year General Course program at the London School of Economics.  She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a Notes Editor of the Law Review. She is admitted to practice in New York.
